3 things to look for when buying heel protectors for grass

One of the most stressful parts of an outdoor event or wedding is deciding on what kind of shoes to wear. While heels look great with lots of outfits and go well when dressing up for formal events, the prospect of walking on difficult terrain is less than appealing. That slow feeling of sinking into the grass just isn’t fun, and so a lot of times, heels are foregone for other shoes when attending outdoor events and weddings.

But with great heel protectors for grass, this does not need to be a problem! With the right solution in place like Grasswalkers, you can walk freely and confidently across difficult terrain in heels, without having to worry about balance and stability. Here’s what to look for when buying heel protectors for grass:

Are they flexible

When you are looking for heel protectors for grass, it is important to have something that’s flexible. Because without that element, they will not really work across different heels and shoe sizes – plus, they will not be able to create a sturdy surface for you to easily walk on. A flexible heel protector for grass such as Grasswalkers will ensure that you are able to use it for different shoes and that it has a soft grip to help you walk on both dry and damp grass easily.

Are they transparent

The other issue is a lot of heel protectors for grass are not exactly discreet. It can take away from the look of the shoe, but a lot of the solutions might damage the underside of the shoe or the heel, which can be incredibly frustrating. If you are looking to protect the sole and heels of your shoe while keeping them in good condition, a transparent heel protector for grass, like Grasswalkers can be the right solution.

How are they structured

But ultimately, the right heel protector for grass will have the right shape to help make this happen. What do we mean by this? Well, a lot of solutions out there offer a small cap for heels or something that’s a bit more rounded. And while that sounds good initially, these small caps aren’t as effective and heels still end up sinking through the grass. However, products like Grasswalkers are better because it’s a flexible and transparent strip that adheres to the bottom of your shoe, the only product of its kind on the market. That way, you get a flat and flexible surface to walk on that can provide more support than a small heel cap can.

While trying to find the right heel protectors for grass can be difficult, we at Grasswalkers firmly believe that our products can help you protect your heels and walk confidently and freely. Grasswalkers can be used across a variety of heel sizes and widths, including chunkier heels, so they can be used with different kinds of shoes. We have a size small and medium available as a single pair, or in multi-packs. Our size small fits up to an 8.5 in shoe size, while our medium fits between size 9 to 11, and they can be purchased on our website here.

A quick guide on how to protect the bottom of your shoes

One of the biggest concerns when buying new shoes is how to protect them. You want to wear them out, and show them off…but you don’t want to damage them! And it’s a struggle. What about when you want to wear them outdoors? How do you keep your shoes intact in those (sometimes muddy) situations?

But have no fear, here’s our guide to help you get maximum wear (and maximum compliments) out of your shoes, without ruining the bottoms or the soles. Sounds like magic, but luckily, there’s none involved – just some clever devices and tricks!

Certain fabrics need more care than others

While some shoes like trainers seem to survive everything, other fabrics can be a bit more delicate. For particular fabrics, it might be worth pre-treating shoes with stain and water protectors to keep them from getting dirty.

Pre-treating can be done with leather, suede, and other fabric shoes – but not with patent leather. Before using it on the entire shoe though, do a little spot treat with the protector to make sure it’s the right quantity (it should not change the color of the shoes). This will help prevent a great deal of wear from the get go. If shoes get wet, make sure not to dry them in direct heat, but to let them air dry on their own to retain the fabric quality and shape of the shoes.

Get a protector for the bottom of your shoe

One of the easiest ways to protect your shoes on surfaces like grass, is to get flexible transparent strips that adhere to the bottom of your sole, like Grasswalkers. These are a quick and easy solution, because they create a sturdy surface that keeps you from sinking into the ground.

This means you can walk with ease, and keep your soles from getting dirty. It’s an easy way to protect your shoe, while still getting some protection and stability while walking on tough surfaces like grass, sand, and dirt.

Storing your shoes well helps

One of the things people often forget is that the way shoes are stored do have an impact on the shape and condition. If you’re stacking them all on top of each other willy-nilly, your shoes can easily lose their shape and get damaged, especially the bottoms. If you want to avoid this as well as preventing any fading or scratches, it’s time to evaluate your storage system.

With tight spaces, it might not be possible to keep shoeboxes around, but there are alternatives. Linen dustbags are always good options and look for functional shoe racks. Often these can be part of a larger storage unit, which gives you a place to keep them arranged properly and give you some extra storage space. At the very least, try to line them up in pairs rather than on top of each other to give them a little more space.

With solutions like these and clever devices like Grasswalkers, you can protect your favorite heels easily – whether outdoors or indoors. For some extra protection though, you can look into other solutions such as toe taps and new heel caps, but that usually requires a trip to a cobbler. However, with some simple storage changes and some pre-treatment, you can ensure that your heels are kicking for a long time, and that you get to enjoy a pristine pair each time you don them for maximum longevity.

3 ways to make walking in heels easier

High heels are always a challenge. While they are always a classy, elegant addition to an outfit, for many, it is not easy to walk in high heels. While part of it is about finding the right fit and heel height for you, it is also about posture and keeping some simple tips in mind when trying to walk in high heels. And when it comes to walking on difficult terrains, like grass, there are some small cheats you can do to make it easy to walk in high heels.

Visualization helps

There is a lot of talk about faking it till you make it. If you convince yourself that you are confident and able to walk in heels, it will happen – you can trick your brain into believing that. While that might not always ring true, it can be helpful to use visualization techniques to help make it easy to walk in high heels.

One of the best things to do is visualize yourself walking in a straight line when walking in heels. Instead of focusing on your feet, or your surroundings, look at your endpoint (or if further, choose an endpoint) and walk towards that. Whether it’s the restaurant on the corner of the street or the traffic light, look at that and walk towards it. This will help you with your gait and posture while also reducing some of the stress you might be feeling while walking in heels.

Protect yourself from grass and other difficult surfaces

You might be one of those people that only wears heels to special occasions, such as weddings and other functions. And a lot of times, these events can be outdoors or in random places with difficult to walk surfaces such as grass and sand…and that scary feeling when your heels sink to the ground! Luckily, there are a lot of hacks and cheats out there to help you get through these difficult walks and still stay graceful. For example, Grasswalkers are flexible transparent strips that stick to the bottom of your heels to keep them from sinking. Available in a range of sizes, this is a quick and effective way to make it easy to walk in high heels since they create a sturdy surface that keeps you stable while walking on grass or sand.

Soles matter

It might be tempting to go for those ultra-lightweight looking heels or to go for some thinner soles. However, soles like those make it so much more difficult to walk, and it’s not too great for your feet either. To walk better in heels, your feet need to be supported. So when possible, always try to choose heels that are a bit more substantial. A thicker sole or even some platform can help alleviate pressure while walking. Rubbery materials can absorb the pressure better, and keep you stable. Rigid soles like wood or plastic are best avoided. Take your time when buying shoes to walk around to really figure out if your feet will feel supported and that the soles are able to absorb pressure effectively.

While walking in high heels may seem difficult, with these tips, it can be a bit easier with these tips. Practicing before wearing heels to a big event is always a good idea, especially if you are not entirely comfortable. Take care of your posture, take small steps, and use methods like our Grasswalkers when walking on difficult surfaces such as grass. Heels are important, but it is just as important to take care of your feet to ensure you are able to walk gracefully without incurring an injury!
